Scripture issues Sever and Stern Warnings to those who desire riches in this present world. The consequences are inevitably sorrow and bondage. The Apostle NEVER said that their were SOME people who were rare exceptions to this rule or even that it is extremely difficult to maintain worldly riches and serve God in a faithful manner. He merely called the love of making money the very ROOT of all kinds of evil that ensnares men’s souls into sorrow and perdition. Yet Professing Christians in the church today THINK they are that rare exception and that money and possessions will not lead them astray.
So they live their lives in such manner as to accumulate as MUCH Stuff as possible, telling themselves that their heart is not really attached to any of it and they Love God. But their actions testify otherwise. Many of them Work long hours, neglect their families, sacrifice holidays and special events, weary themselves into a state of depression over money and bills. NOTHING takes precedence over earning that pay-check! If they run a business it likely to be even worse as they grind their lives away to rake in the profits. Surly the Work of itself it not Evil or Bad, ‘if you don’t’ work, you don’t eat’, the Bible says. BUT WHERE are your Priorities? Are you DOING Anything to lay up for yourself and family the TRUE RICHES that neither moth nor rust can destroy? (Matt6:19-22)
Where the Treasure is, there the Heart will be also! Is your Treasure a fishing boat, your next vacation, another set of wheels? Why is it you are so compelled to make a big pile of money at the expense of everything else? It doesn’t add up. YES, we need money to survive and pay for our obligations in life, but going after it to the determent of your soul is NOT wise. What’s more important, assuring that your children learn the TRUTH of God from His Word, or paying for their college education? You send them off to church and insist they read their Bibles, but WHAT are they learning? You’re TOO BUSY to take the time to find out! So you leave them in the hands of Preachers at some church, you know nothing about and use your membership to make business contacts!
There’s NOT a Church Pastor on earth who is going to warn you about the Dangers and snares of gaining riches, because he NEEDS your money to survive! You probably have No idea whatsoever what the Bible has to say about these things. (or anything else for that matter!) You got your nose to the Grind Stone and dollar signs in your eyeballs! If you spent one TENTH the time in the Scriptures with your family that you do sweating over your business, you may have your eyes open to some truth by now. Read the following:
Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1Tim 6:6-10
This is NOT difficult to understand. The Only reason you may be confused about it is because your conscience is convicting you for being guilty of what is says. Jesus said it would be Extremely Difficult for the wealthy to enter the Kingdom of heaven, not impossible of course, but only RARE EXCEPTIONS would be able to overcome their natural covertness and use their riches accordingly. Consider how many of these people who are loyal church goers, giving large sums of money to support the Lie. Will NOT God hold them accountable for the careless use of their wealth? According to many of the Parables, He Will and the consequences of miss-use are dire.
The People Jesus called to follow Him missed their opportunity forever because they had to first attend to the business of life. (Much the same as you.) You’ll follow Him AFTER you earn enough money to be comfortable and send your kids to school. But as He said to them, ‘Let the Dead bury their dead, You come and follow Me!’ They still refused and insisted they had plenty of time to decide. (Lk9:59-62)
Unfortunately you’re NOT going to hear any of these things at your church. Everyone, including the Pastor and teachers, are already Serving Two Masters themselves and got ‘Saved’ in their sins. If you REALLY Care about your family and your own immortal soul, you MUST GET OUT of these churches now and Study at home, until you come to a Real Knowledge of the Truth.
Until the Eyes of your understanding are Open to the things of God, NONE of this will make sense to you and Going after more wealth, earthly security and the finer things of life, will seem NORMAL. After all, everyone you know is doing it, how could it be wrong to work hard, make money and provide for your family? You’re not a law breaker, dead beat, lazy good for nothing person, mooching off others! You labor diligently for what you have and want the Best for your children. Who could cast any dispersions on that?
Nothing is Immoral with any of these things, of themselves. God wants people to be conscientious and industrious, not slothful and wasteful. HOWEVER He ALSO Demands FIRST PLACE in the hearts of those who Profess to Follow Him! ‘LOVE GOD’, above all things: family, possessions, wealth and all the STUFF you think is necessary to own. It’s NOT Difficult to distinguish WHO you are Serving. Just gaze into the Mirror and observe the reflection. You want a God who will Approve your affluence, NOT one Who Demands your Time and Effort to enter His Kingdom.
You are EXACTLY like the Rich man who Built Bigger Barns to store up his goods and take his ease! He laid up treasure for himself and was not RICH toward God. When his soul was required by God, he wasn’t prepared and went kicking and screaming into the abyss lost forever. (Lk12:13-21)
You MUST SHIFT your Priorities Now (I Know it will be like turning your world up-side-down) GET OUT of the Churches. (I know that will be painful to cut your business ties) PUT At Least as Much Time into Seeking His Truth, in Prayer and Study as you did keeping your business afloat or earning a paycheck. You have a Great Deal of Deception and Darkness to overcome (ignorance concerning the things of God) It is Going to Require EFFORT on your part to Truly Come into the Light. But if you NEVER Make the attempt and just keep going down the road you’re presently on, THIS will be your FATE:
Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ Matt7:21-23
